Omfg remember Loki asking Tony in Avengers – “How will your friends have time to fight me when they will be busy fighting you?”

He was right. Holy shit he was proven right down the line. It was Loki’s sceptre that had the Mind Stone that brought up the entire AoU mess so his spectre did work in making the team fight Tony in an indirect way. And in CACW almost the entire team, the entire Avengers 2012 team at least, goes against Tony which leads to all of them breaking up later. That makes them unprepared for Thanos when he comes because they had been too busy fighting each other.

Loki was right. Tony’s team didn’t have time for the enemy because they were busy fighting him. Holy shit callback.

Pearl, I’m literally going to fight you wtf

Okay but you know what makes it even better? Tony’s best reply to Loki saying he has an army is that they have a Hulk. To which Loki comments that he thought the ‘beast had wandered off’.

GUESS WHO DIDN’T MAKE AN APPEARANCE IN THE END (during IW) WHEN TONY WAS HOPING HE WOULD??? HULK!!

Tony leaves himself out of his list of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and ends up away from the rest of the original team on Titan.

So are you saying that the Avengers movie basically spoiled the future franchise for us, and we didn’t even know it?

All I’m saying is that Tony predicted the fate of his team just right when he said that if they can’t protect Earth they’ll surely avenge it. Which is basically what happened in the end because they were incapable of protecting. And A4 will be about avenging what happened.

Oh also, Tony showed that his go-to method was distraction when he talked to Loki. Which is what Strange tries with Thanos at Titan and then the group tries to do what Jarvis did in Avengers – take the enemy by surprise. Plus, Loki was right during Avengers. Tony should have kept his suit on. He took part of it off and got stabbed in IW.

Peart WTF are you doing to all of us?

I hear what you’re saying and it makes sense but it doesn’t feel right.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: with much jazz-handsy excitement, we’re announcing the MTH final total!

Together, we raised:

$19,262.52

The Marvel fandom rose up magnificently with an outpouring of generosity that impressed us all: 236 “Marvel”-ous creators came forward to offer 354 auctions. 💖🎉 Each and every one of you was instrumental to our success, and we appreciate your contributions so very much. We couldn’t have started this auction without you, and we discovered so many talented creators in the Marvel fandom through it!

We also owe our success to our wonderful bidders and signal boosters. There can’t be an auction without any bidders, and we had hundreds of you intent on winning the auctions you set your hearts on. And signal boosters, there’s no way we could have reached as many creators and bidders as we did without your help.

In addition to the astounding amount of money we were able to raise for charity, MTH was successful in other ways. We strove to be as inclusive as possible, determined to make this event a fandom-wide effort. Considering that the auctions covered over 242 platonic and romantic relationships (if we include “all ships/gen”-inclusive relationships, this number is even higher) in at least 23 fandoms across 19 universes within the Marvel multiverse, we can safely say that we accomplished our goal.

This spirit of inclusion also applies to our auctions and charities. Every single one of our 354 auctions was bid on, and every one of our 30 supported charities received donations. This is a tremendous achievement. We’re in awe of your commitment to supporting all our creators and charities and thrilled that you spread all the love around, bidders!

Here’s our breakdown of the donations (click to enlarge the image):

A colorful donut showing the amount raised per charity.

We also listed the amount raised per charity on our List of Organizations page.

We’re so touched by the massive number of people who donated above and beyond their pledged amount, creators who took on multiple auctions and offered up multiple winner slots, and bidders who accepted their second-place wins with such eagerness! We were extremely happy and proud of our initial projected sum, but were overcome with emotions as donation after donation came in and the total kept growing. It was remarkable and we often found ourselves at a loss for words (we had to resort to many crying and heart emojis, keyboard bashing, and variations of “omgggggg” in our mod chat).

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for helping us turn our first Marvel Trumps Hate auction into such an incredible experience. We cherish every single message of love and support that we received, and continue to receive, on our Discord server and through DMs, Tumblr messages, emails, Twitter threads, etc. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

You’ll also be able to find works posted on AO3 in our Marvel Trumps Hate collection and links to fills in our Discord server, which you can join to brainstorm prompts, chat about fills, and find out about other fandom events.

Thank you once again to everyone who volunteered their services, time, money, and platforms to spread the word.

We can’t wait to see all of your fanworks over the next year!

Lots of love,

Your 2018 MTH mods

most of the tags are like “look at that pose/ pop that hip/ what a dapper mf” but my favorites are

contextually VERY important: this is illya’s reaction to gaby entering the room after solo called him out on being into her   tmfu

Agressivly normal is the best :)))))))

okay I’m adding my note because I always think of this as the “Robert Redford windbreaker shot” – did anyone else think that the flat cap and the windbreakers were in homage to Robert Redford’s wardrobe in The Sting and The Great Gatsby?

(Sorry for the length–I couldn’t figure out how to clip this thing). Okay, here’s where I nerd again because I love character design, I’m a fledgling costume freak, and THIS is the kind of shit I liked about the movie.

I think the costume designer, Joanna Johnston, did mention something about Robert Redford, but Steve McQueen was the major influence (this outfit is from Bullit, circa 1968–which falls within the timeline from which she drew most of her stylistic cues). Seriously, check this shit out.

And while we’re comparing the two, how about that sweet-ass motorcycle?

image

I was curious because the similarity between the two bikes is so striking, so I did a little digging. Come to find out, they are literally almost the exact same bike. As in, the manufacturer, Metisse, made a new variation of Steve’s bike specifically to suit Illya (apparently they made 300 of them and they’re also featured on the their home page if you have an extra $19,000 lying around).

So, the design team basically copied Steve McQueen from the late 60′s for Illya, which tbh might be a little lazy, but who cares! It’s badass (and everyone does it, let’s be real)!

And guys, I gotta say it. Suits =/= end all be all of men’s fashion. Anyone who says Illya can’t dress himself is just plain wrong; if he were in a 21st century setting, he’d be dressed much like Daniel Craig (whose style seems largely inspired by Steve McQueen as well). Besides, he’s a very physical, action-oriented character, not a guy who’s main concern is his appearance and peacocking. And have we forgotten that killer dark grey (brown?) and black outfit during the “OMG Spanish RUSSIAN STEPS!” scene? Or his dark blue-gray suit at the racetrack? AND the whole verbal smack down in the boutique? I mean come on. Don’t get me wrong, Napoleon is stunning, he looks so good in his bespoke suits it hurts to look at him (that blue plaid though, um, not so much) but that’s one of many areas where their priorities differ; Napoleon is about looking nice regardless of the practicality, and Illya is about what to wear and when to wear it.
